The Construction work of Pratap Nagar bridge is much demanded by Pratap Nagar & Indrapalem locals since a long time has been started a few days back providing a sigh of relief to commuters traveling to Kakinada from Samarlkot & Indrapalem.
Following the finalized tender orders to construction agency & with the allotted funds under Smart City Projects, construction works are started.
Right now, temporary ramps are being built over the River on either side of the existing bridge. Once the new bridge is built, they’re going to dismantle part of the old bridge, so everybody will be on the new portion of the bridge going in two directions.
ACCORDING TO SOURCES, Pratap Nagar CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE COMPLETED WITHIN ONE YEAR.
The new bridge is Longer & Wider
Construction of Two-Lane Road Bridge at Pratap Nagar, Kakinada under Kakinada Smart City Proposal Implementation shall include development and construction. The works summarily consist of the following:
- Construction of a New Bridge with Two Vents X 14 m Effective Span
- Formation of Approach Roads
- Retaining Wall Resting on Pile Foundation for Approach Roads
- Diversion Arrangements for Drain Water
- Formation of Cross Bund for Temporary Diversion of Drain Water
- The dismantling of the Existing Bridge

Residents expressed their happiness for starting this long demanded bridge. This over-bridge is expected to ease the traffic jam near Pratap Nagar & Indrapalem area and serves as an alternative route to reach Gandhi Nagar, Ramaraopet, Bhanugudi junction from Indrapalem.
