We all know E. Sreedharan is called as the Father of Indian Metro, Metro Man, etc, but Did You Know? He completed his CIVIL Engineering from JNTU, Kakinada. Read the full story about him.
Childhood & Early Life:
Elattuvalapil Sreedharan was born on 12 June 1932 in Palakkad district, Kerala state. His primary education was at Government Lower Primary School Chathannur near Pattambi in Palakkad district. He completed his education at the Basel Evangelical Mission Higher Secondary School and then went to Victoria College in Palghat.
“He later-on completed his Civil Engineering degree from our Government Engineering College, Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, presently known as JNTU-K.”
Career:
E. Sreedharan is a retired Indian Engineering Service (IES) officer. He is popularly known as the “Metro Man of India” as he changed the face of India’s public transport with his bold leadership. He is well known for planning, building, and completing critical & crucial projects with ease where any other would dare to handle the project. Such projects are building the Konkan Railway, Cochin Shipyard Limited, Delhi Metro(DMRC), etc. Recently he was appointed to serve the United Nations’s High-Level Advisory Group on Sustainable Transport (HLAG-ST). He is felicitated with several Awards and accolades from around the world. Successful & Critical Projects Completed under the leadership of E. Sreedharan are:
- Kolkata Metro
- Konkan Railway
- Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC)
- Kochi Metro
“Sreedharan has also been appointed as Chief Advisor for the Lucknow Metro, Jaipur Metro. He has also been appointed as chief advisor by our Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for a proposed Metro rail system in Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada.”
Sure he is one of the finest & best engineers India has ever witnessed. As a Kakinadian, I feel honored that he studied at our JNTU, Kakinada.
