In a series of recent events, Some people have filed Writ Petitions in High Court challenging the notifications issued for conducting elections to Kakinada Municipal Corporation (KMC).

Justice P Naveen Rao of combined state High Court on Wednesday heard arguments on these writ petitions. The petitioners argued, “According to the Law, any municipal corporation should have atleast minimum of 50 wards for conducting the elections. But, three villages were removed from the corporation limits and elections are being held in just 48 wards which is not legal according to the Law.”

“THE HC judge noted that the court’s interference after the release of election notification had to be examined in detail BEFORE THE FINAL VERDICT.”

Besides, the Government Order (G.O) fixing the wards and reserving is issues to EC. Based on that G.O, the election notification was issued recently. The arguments will continue on Today also.

Its an open fact that due to no governing body like Mayor, Ward members etc the Smart City Projects are facing many hurdles in taking the decisions for development works & that leads to falling behind in development of the city. Hope this episode of Plea to stop the elections will not affects the KMC Elections.
